Bruins dominant in claiming state tennis crown
Brentwood literally made short work for claiming the TSSAA Boys State Tennis Tournament championship Wednesday at the Spring Fling in Murfreesboro.
Winning all four sisngles positions in straight sets, the Bruins swept past Knoxville West for the title, giving Brentwood seniors two state titles and one runners-up finish in three years.

Ravenwood notches third straight tennis crown
Ravenwood totally dominated in winning its third straight TSSAA Girls Tennis Championship Wednesday morning with a 4-0 shutout of Kingsport's Dobyns Bennett at the Old Fort Park tennis complex in Murfreesboro.
The Lady Raptors did not lose a single set in two straight matches in swooping to their threepeat.

Dominant Brentwood boys, Ravenwood girls Xcountry state champions
Brentwood's boys utterly dominated in winning the first state cross country championship for a Williamson County team Saturday while Ravenwood did the same for a girls' team with a close victory for a state title.
The Bruins turned in an amazaing performance, placing all five runners in the top 20, to win the TSSAA Class AAA State Boys Cross Country Meet by a stunning 76-point margin. Led by second-place individual competitor Paul Stuart, Brentwood had a total of 50 team points with runnerup Bearden totaling 126.
Ravenwood claimed the TSSAA Class AAA Girls State Cross Country Meet title with 113 points, ahead of Science Hill 119.
Independence finished a notable sixth in the boys' meet with Ravenwood 14th.
Brentwood's girls claimed eighth place; Independence 13th.
The Bruins' Stuart finished less than a second behind individual state champion Will Templeton of Hardin Valley in leading the incredible Brentwood parade.
Alec Thomas finished eighth, Nathan Thomas 12th, Taylor Caldwell 14th and Aaron Thomas 18th.
Ravenwood's Conley Chitwood was fourth in the individual competition and Independence's Kris Howard 13th and Jared Wingerter 22nd.
Erika Peoples led the Ravenwood girls' championship run, finishing fourth, Teammates Dabney Chitwood was 27th while MacKenzie Lefler, Rachel Spinden and Sabrina Florey held a Raven parade by finishing 36th, 37th and 38th.
Franklin's Rachel Wooten finished third in the race with Brentwood's Brittany Alexander 13th.
Franklin girls perfect in claiming state championship
Franklin's girls soccer team finished the season undefeated, untied and unchallenged as the best team in the state.
The Lady Rebels claimed the TSSAA Class AAA State Girls Soccer Tournament championship Saturday afternoon in Chattanooga with an impressive 3-0 shutout of previously undefeated Farragut to cap a perfect 24-0 season.
Mackenzie Moore netted the ball on an assist from Lyndie Donegan at 37:10 in the first half for all the scoring Franklin would need.
Chesney White added two goals in the second half, the first at the 46:44 mark on an assist by Jessica Hiskey and the second at 68:38 unassisted.
The Lady Rebs outshot Farragut 12-6.
Keeper Emily Burchfield had three saves for the Lady Rebels while Farragut goalie had eight saves against the relentless Franklin attack.
