New Hope Academy and Ensworth School Students Give Back to Community

Franklin—Two local schools are pitching in to do their part for the community.

On Friday April 20th beginning at 9:30 a.m. about 20 freshman students from Ensworth School will be painting and staining fencing at the Fort Granger lookout above Pinkerton Park and also painting the newly installed fence at The Park at Harlinsdale Farm.

The students will be working alongside faculty from Ensworth and Parks staff who will be assisting. This is the fourth of four community days for Ensworth School.

“Freshmen and sophomores work in a variety of projects exposing them to several social issues including; caring for the environment, working with intellectually disabled, working to help hunger and homelessness, spending time with pre-school age children and learning about child development and community based projects such as the painting and staining in Franklin’s parks,” said Greg Eubanks, of Ensworth School.

Tuesday, April 24th New Hope Academy will bring 23 6th graders to Jim Warren Park to paint the fence along Boyd Mill Ave.

“Every year at New Hope Academy we take a day to give back to the community that has been so generous to us. Part of our mission statement is to ‘prepare each young person for a life of service.’ Community service day helps train our children to give back to their own community in a very tangible way,” said Alice Dighton, 6th grade teacher from New Hope Academy.

The contribution of these two schools will save the City of Franklin Parks Department the cost of 6 staff members spending approximately 9-10 days of work.
