Between 1995 and 1997, Neil Thrasher and Kelly Shiver comprised the duo Thrasher Shiver, which recorded a studio album for Asylum Records in 1996 and charted two singles on the Billboard country charts in early 1997. Thrasher has written several singles for other country music artists, such as Rascal Flatts, Kenny Chesney, Diamond Rio, and Montgomery Gentry. Thrasher has also received an ASCAP Songwriter of the Year award in 2004. The group Rascal Flatts have released four Neil Thrasher co-writes as singles: "I Melt" (2003), "Fast Cars and Freedom" (2005), "Take Me There" (2007), and "Bob That Head" (2008). Kenny Chesney also has two singles which Thrasher co-wrote in "I Lost It" (2000) and "There Goes My Life" from late 2003-early 2004. Chesney also cut the track "Some People Change", which he did not release, although it was later a Top Ten hit when Montgomery Gentry released their version in 2006.
